About ReOpening

The recent “Shelter at Home” policy in response to the COVID 19 pandemic has caused a considerable amount of disruption to everyone and certainly to the weightlifting community.  At this point it looks as though gyms will be allowed to re-open and I thought I’d go over the provision that we are planning just to inform our members and to let prospective customers know about these changes.  It’s also helpful for gym owners to communicate about their policies as sometimes one individual can come up with a new idea, policy, procedure that could be implemented by others.

Current Governmental Directives/Guidelines

The State of California will allow the reopening of gyms at the discretion of each county no sooner than June 12.  We are located in Los Angeles County which has yet to authorize the reopening of gyms.

Consequently we plan on re-opening on July 6 which was one of the dates hinted at by the city of Los Angeles.  We shall wait and see.

Reorganization of Space

We are planning on making the central strip into a block station.  This should help to maintain social distancing.  We will also re-locate the Power Rack to this space.

We will be setting up a waiting area in the space recently vacated by Iron Battalion on the West Side of our room.  This will maintain distanced seating for those waiting to begin their session.

New Schedule

We are planning on maintaining strict adherence  to a one person per platform status with the only exception being that a platform may be shared by two occupants of the same residence.

Training will take place in two hour blocks that will end promptly on time to accommodate sanitizing.  Athletes must pre-register for a session online.
